1930 Cord L-29 Phateon Sells at Fall Carlisle Collector Car Auction
The 2009 Fall Carlisle Collector Car
Auction closed at a climactic point with the sale of
the feature vehicle: a 1930 Cord L-29 Phateon. The stunning
example of one of less than one hundred and fifty Cords
remaining was sold to a bidder over the phone for an
undisclosed figure. The eventual buyer of the L-29 has
more than just a passion for the spectacular example
of the American automobile; racing legend Christopher
Cord is the grandson of the Cord Corporation founder,
Errett Lobban Cord (1894-1974).
In addition to presenting the Cord L-29 Phateon, the highest selling car in the five-year history of Carlisle Auctions, the auction organization offered more than 250 collector cars and trucks from all eras, ranging from a 1923 Nash to a 2008 Audi S5.
