This is probably one of the rarest Yenko Camaro’s built. This car was purchased from Yenko Chevrolet on February 19th by a gentleman named Charles Wine, one of Don Yenko’s friends. The decided to build the car for themselves to go racing. Don Yenko installed all his remaining parts from his “Stormer” program that he started in 1967. This car was built to compete with all the big block at the track. They succeeded. The quarter mile times were in the low 12 second range where all the big block cars were running. After racing for a year, this fully documented Yenko Z28 Camaro was sold through Yenko Chevrolet to John Shriver.
The car retains all the original Yenko sales documents including the original Protect-O- Plate and counter receipt from Yenko Chevrolet for the performance upgrades. Also, there is a signed affidavit from the owner which states that this is a documented, original 17,000 mile car. The original time slips from Atco and Pittsburg race tracks and the original cam card from Yenko Chevrolet come with the car.
This Camaro is a factory Z28 X77 car that retains all its original components. It is a factory Cortez Silver with black rally stripes car. Ordered with radio delete, no console, 12 bolt rear with 3.73 posi, Muncie M22 four speed transmission, Hurst shifter, DZ302 engine and all the original parts that Yenko installed in 1969.
Yenko upgrades include: Remote gauges including signature tach from Yenko, high performance Mallory ignition system, Yenko line lock system, upgraded Holley carburetor, light weight endura front bumper, Yenko traction bars and the original Atlas/Cragar magnesium wheels. Other signature items include under hood light which turns on from engine compartment in order to work on it at night at the race track and a remote crank button in the engine compartment to adjust the timing.
This is a one of a kind car and a rare opportunity to own a very significant piece of the Yenko history.
